This extra-large picnic blanket from Nap and Sun is 180cm square, built in three layers, and has a hole in the middle so a beach umbrella goes straight through it. A hidden zip pocket keeps keys and phones out of the sand, corner loops let you peg it down in the wind, and the whole thing goes in the washing machine at 30°C when the day is done.
A hole for the umbrella
The centre hole lets a beach umbrella or cabana pole pass straight through the blanket. The shade sits over the middle of your spot instead of off to one side, and the blanket holds the umbrella base in place.
Three layers, each with a job
A soft, spill-resistant top you sit on. Cushioned padding in the middle so the ground is not felt through it. And a water-repellent Oxford backing underneath that keeps damp grass and ground moisture from coming up through.
180 x 180cm family size
Enough room for a family of four and the food, or two people who like space. It is a true square, so there is no wrong way to lay it out.
Hidden zip pocket
Keys, phone and wallet go in a zipped pocket built into the blanket, away from sand, dirt and wandering hands.
Corner loops for windy days
Each corner has a loop for a peg or stake, so a sea breeze does not lift the edges and dump sand on lunch.
Machine washable
Spills wipe straight off the top. When it needs more than a wipe, the whole blanket can go through the machine at 30°C.
Made from recycled bottles
Each blanket repurposes 45 post-consumer plastic bottles into recycled RPET fabric. The brand lists OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification.
Rolls up with a strap
It rolls up tight and closes with an adjustable velcro carry strap, so it travels on a shoulder.
