The rattan is the point

Two oval panels of natural paper rattan sit inset into each drawer front, their warm straw tone set against the matte black carcass. It is the detail that stops this reading as flat-pack. The weave catches lamplight in the evening and gives the piece texture you can see from across the room.

Warm wood against the black

The handles are turned gum wood, left pale and unstained, running the width of each drawer. Combined with the rounded black legs, it lands somewhere between coastal and contemporary - at home in a relaxed bedroom, a guest room, or beside a sofa as a lamp table.

Both drawers are generously sized and glide easily on their runners. The pale handles are wide enough to open with one hand without looking, which is the only test that matters at 2am.

A 12mm particle board carcass with solid rubber wood legs. The legs are the part worth noting - turned timber rather than pressed board, so the table carries weight without the base splaying over time. Every joint is finished smooth, with no rough edges where panels meet.
