A barrel that kicks back
Pull the trigger and the barrel jolts back with a shooting sound. It's a small touch, and it's the reason kids ask for one more round. Run out of ammo and you'll need to hit the reload button, which means ducking behind the couch at exactly the wrong moment.
Lives from 1 to 99
You choose how many lives each player gets before the game starts. Five lives makes a quick, frantic round for younger kids. Ninety-nine turns it into an evening-long campaign. The vest shows the count on its own display, so everyone can see who's close to going out.
Lit on both sides
Each blaster glows on both sides in its team colour, and the vest lights up to match. Pick from blue, red, green or white. After dark, you can tell a teammate from a rival at a glance, even across a dim lounge room.
Ammo on the blaster, lives on the chest
Pair a blaster with a vest and hits on the vest count against that player. The blaster's screen shows ammo from 0 to 12. No vests on hand? Pair two blasters with each other and they'll track lives on their own screens, so a quick game takes seconds to start.
A backyard birthday at dusk
Picture it: cake's done, the sun's dropping behind the back fence, and four kids split into red and blue. The trampoline becomes a fort and the shed becomes a sniper's nest. With a quoted 45 metre range, the whole yard is in play, and because it's infrared, there's nothing to find in the garden next morning.
Sized for kids, fine for adults
Each blaster is about 25.6 cm long and 15.7 cm high, so it fits a child's hands without looking babyish to a teenager. The vest pod is about 13.7 by 14.9 cm. The box says 8 and up, which means parents are fair game too.
